Clearwing

These are not often seen around here, but I found this one in the 'jungle' area.

What flower is that? is it a weed. They just love weeds. They're always around in the wild too. Is it a weed composite Asteracae family(Sunflower)? skippers will use anysize anyshape like morning glory or Corscrew vine

Looks like it is nectaring on some species of mist flower.

We had a couple of clearwing as new US records a few years ago in south Texas.

One was a Thick Tipped Greta (Greta morgane)

and the other a Broad-tipped Clearwing (Pteronymia cotytto)
http://www.naba.org/chapters/nabast/cotytto.html

They are supposed to use species of cestrum native to Costa Rica as a larval host. Perhaps you'll come across some larva on your walks through the jungle areas.
