We recently spent a few days at Lake Hope State Park in SE Ohio and FINALLY were able to see an abundance of butterflies... many swallowtails, Cloudless Sulphurs, Great Spangled Fritillaries and Monarchs (and hummingbirds

) were in the fields of ironweed, Joe Pye weed and Spotted Jewel Weed. Sergei and Pierre were also along for the trip. Sergei is a black and tan Pomeranian who appreciated the cooler temps while we there, and Pierre, the Papillon, likes any place where where he can just GO... full tilt... all the time
The opportunity for a shot of Pierre, the Papillon, and a tiger swallowtail, Papilio glaucus, happened one day while we were hiking around the lake. They both, remarkably, remained still for the shot
It's my favorite image from the trip...
"Les Papillons"
And, here's a pic a yellow form female tiger on Joe Pye Weed...
... and one of Sergei after a little creek adventure... couldn't leave him out of the post
