Chocolate Chip Cookie

Hi all,

I am wondering about the past of my mare before she came to botley and was owned by a lady called Sarah Baker.
All I know about before she had her was that she was bought off the meat lorry at the sales by a lady who, i believe bought one other and she had flu en route to Botley!

Her sire is Red Lighting and her dam is Brandysnap VI. She is Forest bred and I have been told she was orphaned.

The questions I need to ask are:
Who is the lady that bought her originally, I need to thank her!!!
Does anyone know of her parents/ what they did/excelled in and is there any pictures of them?
Where on the forest was she born?
Who bought her from the sales in 2000?

I appreciate some of the questions may not be answered but i would like to try!

Any info is appreciated!

Katie

Try ringing the NF pony society - they are only open in the mornings - they should be able to help you.

Hi, was she bought as a foal in 2000? How old is she now? I can check where sire was running, so that may give you an indication as to where she could have been born.

Hi Claire,

Yes I believe she was bought in 2000. She is 7 this year in May.
She was bred by Mrs Adams of Ringwood but I do not know who the sire belonged to!
Apparently she was found alone on a Golf course in the forest, which one I do not know!

Katie, have you contacted Mrs Adams, she might have some info on the dam, if not the sire! Who was his grand sire as people may recognise him, if you havent already found out the info on him?!

I haven't got in contact with Mrs Adams yet. Was waiting to see if anyone had any ideas.

Her grandsire (sires sire) is SMiler of Sheepwash. The majority of people know him!!!

In that case, perhaps Mandy Pidgley may have some info on him as she may have taken a bit of interest in any offspring from her stallion, especially if they were kept entire and had offspring themselves! Might be worth while getting in touch with her! She is really lovely and was only more than pleased to hear about how our Smiler baby was getting along and she also gave me some background on other Smiler offspring too :)

That would be Burley Golf Course I would assume as Red Lighting was running there in 1999. As for her breeder, I think I know who that would be.

Hi all,

I spoke to John and Wendy Adams at the breed show the other weekend and Cookie was actually bred by John's uncle and his wife! Neither know much about her parents but John gave me a few things that he could remember. For that I am very greatful!

I was also talking to Wendy and may well send Cooks to them next year to be put with Burley Branston as he is a lovely quiet stallion that excels in a lot and is graded!

Am planning to pop down and see them sometime soon.

Thanks for all your help! If anybody has any thing else about any of them it would be most appreciated!

Yes Wendy had him at the breed show for the dressage and she put him back in the lorry and he was absolutely marvelous, so quiet you wouldn't have known he was in there!
