Hi has anyone ever bought a unregistered pony from the new forest pony sales and been able to find out who the parents are, just a question i know it might sound silly but you never know any help or ideas, thanks

You should have the breeders details in the passport. They maybe able to help.

Unregistered, ie with foal papers? Or unregisterable, ie not full bred NF pony, or with lost foal papers? There is a difference. The first should have breeder/owner name and basic genealogy ready to transfer to the passport when sent to the breed society. The second may have those details, confirming the X register status. I'm not sure what they do now for ponies sold through BR who have been dumped on the Forest, there must be a process for securing a new passport, but it will not have genealogy and will be virtually impossible to trace. You do have the option of DNA testing which may show you have a registerable full bred. Hope this helps.
