Orchard Oriole

Spotted this male bringing insects to the nest. I've located the nest but it is hidden very well. I never saw the female this day. Maybe she was in the nest??? I heard no chatter when he disappeared to the nest with insects.

Did you notice the stiff winged flight they do when approaching the nest?

Sandy, Nice pun! At first I thought he was bringing nesting grass, then, after closer inspection I realized he had insects!

No Ward, I didn't notice stiff winged flight, unfortunatly. I guess I was blinded with awe. When he flew in from the marsh I knew he looked beautiful. He would fly to the top of a small tree then would take a short skip to the next small tree, then a drop to the branch with the nest. Then, he would repeat the same routine. He looked beautiful flying away also. Lifer for me!
