Goodness! This morning there was a male northern oriole in my birdbath with the usual catbird. This afternoon there was a male scarlet tanager in the birdbath. I haven't seen either of these birds in my yard in many years.Wow!

Yes, Nancy.. it seems like some kind of water area really attracts birds where seed alone may not do so..

You may have had the bird bath up for many years, however..

But that is supposed to be the result..!!( water is supposed to draw them out of the woods ,so to speak ,when seed alone does not)

Maybe the two things ( seed and water) are the best combo..

anyway,lucky you ! what a treat.!

The birdbaths have been there for years. One is about 3 feet off the ground, and the other about 8 inches off the ground. Some birds seem to prefer one birdbath, and other birds prefer the other. In any case both are busy and need refilling every day.
The low one gets dumped by a raccoon some nights, and squirrels use both of them during the day. It does make for a busy back yard. I can't even identify some of the warblers that have been coming (I've never seen them before), and when they are sopping wet they don't look like anything in my field manuals.
Indigo buntings have been regulars for years, much to my delight.
