Have had almost no time for birds this summer with dh's health issues, but after his surgery it looks like we can finally start getting back to normal again...I've been out birding a total of 3 times this year but at least had a chance to get re-acquainted with some of my old friends, so here's a few summer birds
Some hot July summer nights, first time I've seen Cedar Waxwings in an actual Cedar tree
We have had way too many starlings this summer, this flicker finally decided he had enough of it!
Sweet Peas
Still a few Rufous around but I think they will be gone very soon
These are from an earlier short trip to the North Cascades and I really do apoligize for the image quality on these, trying to take pictures hh in deep forests without using fill flash is not the brightest thing to do

but sometimes you gotta take what you can get...
At the end of a very long day hike I was watching a bunch of Evening Grosbeak, Varied Thrush and oddly enough a flock of 8 Hairy Woodpeckers, then all of a sudden this American Three-toed Woodpecker joined the flock! Light was crappy but I was thrilled to add lifer #180!
Some baby birds...
Big Baby
Red-breasted Sap baby and parent
With a heavy heart I came back home and started trying to catch up with the news of Hurricane Gustav

my heart goes out to those in the Louisiana area, I hope and pray for their safety. Sorry for the long post and I hope everybody is able to enjoy the last few weeks of summer and now I'm out of here to try and catch some of the early fall birds, have a happy Labor Day!
