Definitely a female Red-bellied! Congrats on the lifer! Great pictures!

Edit: had to add a little side note that I was thinking, when I first read and responded to this thread, that I hadn't seen any Red-bellied woodpeckers around my yard for awhile. Not more than an hour later the male landed on my peanut feeder. Maybe reading this thread was the luck I needed! [linked image]

Beautiful pictures of a RBW!
This is one of my favorite visitors. It has a lot of attitude, and will clear the feeder all for itself by pecking at anyone nearby.

Might you be in a Christmas count circle and if so do you know any of your local birders? It is a wanted CBC bird up your way. They love seed feeders.

Thank you everyone!!! I was soooooo thrilled to have this beauty visit my front deck!!![linked image]
I have a few fellow birders in my area that are very interested in this bird. I have heard that it is quite uncommon around here but the numbers are starting to increase!! [linked image]
I do the Christmas bird count in this area every year and can't wait to let them know about this one!![linked image]

Very nice captures Lorena!

We have several male red-bellieds here, but the female is a somewhat rare sighting for us. These shots are clear and sharp.

good shooting,
