Edit: had to add a little side note that I was thinking, when I first read and responded to this thread, that I hadn't seen any Red-bellied woodpeckers around my yard for awhile. Not more than an hour later the male landed on my peanut feeder. Maybe reading this thread was the luck I needed!

This is one of my favorite visitors. It has a lot of attitude, and will clear the feeder all for itself by pecking at anyone nearby.

I have a few fellow birders in my area that are very interested in this bird. I have heard that it is quite uncommon around here but the numbers are starting to increase!!
I do the Christmas bird count in this area every year and can't wait to let them know about this one!!
