Great Sarah, I almost never saw those in Missouri although there are plenty of them around. Gotta check those knotholes!

The second picture of the screech owl is wonderful! I haven't seen one in years, but hear one every once in a while. I love them.

When my girls were little and we lived in New Jersey, there was a screech owl that lived in a tree hole near our kitchen window. The girls named him (or her) Charlie. We always knew when he was at home by the fuss the other birds made, including peering into the hole. At dusk he made his regular appearance. One summer an owl of the opposite gender joined him in his hole and they had 3 fuzzy white youngsters that landed on top of the wood pile after leaving the nest. We had a very entertaining time with him for years.

Thanks everyone! Kristy the only caption I can think of is him saying go away because if you walk up to the tree he vanishes. Great story Nancy How lucky you were!
