We were picking out paint colors standing in the dinette when I saw a bid shape fly through. I was like a kid in a candy store with my face pressed up against the window and a huge smile on my face while DH took pictures! All the while I kept saying how much I love owls!

WOW!!! How cool is that!! Is that a Barred Owl?!?!

I have also had experiences like that but with the Coopers Hawk on my front deck railing not 5 feet from my front window!! Of course all I could do was stutter and sputter some incoherent words as my family looked curiously at me. They were on the couch facing me so the hawk was right behind their heads!!!!!

LOL! That's about what it was like here...except I think a small scream escaped me when I realized what was flying through the backyard. Thakfully DH was there to grab the camera!

I think this is the same owl I had been seeing flying over our house at night in the fall. I know we have plenty of them in our area but this is the first I've seen one in broad daylight in my yard. This past fall I heard a female Long-eared Owl calling. Haven't seen them yet though.

I am still pumped up about this owl!
