I agree, great shots.

I think you may have two different birds here. The first picture shows an adult bird with bright red tail. The remaining shots are of a juvenile. The undertail is very white and not red like it should be with an adult bird. I beleive, and please correct me if I am wrong, that the red on op of the tail is alwasy matched with a redish undertail.

Hello Mike,

Thanks happy.gif
Ya know...Hmmmmm...well, now that I think about it...
The 1st pic was taken from our bedroom window. It did take me a few minutes to get outside... and when I did I saw a hawk about to land in the neighbor's tree. My 1st instinct was that it was the same bird. It's very possible there was 2 Hawks. I didn't think to look at the underside of the tail feathers (I'm not that knowlegeable yet on all hawks...juvies, adults, etc.). Wow! How cool to know we have an adult and a juvie Red-Tailed nearby...

I have pics of Sharp-Shinned and Cooper's in our yard...so I know we have a lot of Hawks around here. DH and I even saw a Northern Goshawk here (fall of 2007).
Since we had a Cooper's and a Sharp-Shinned in the backyard at the same time a month or so ago. I'm sure that it's possible that there is more than one Hawk around at the same time. Anyhoo, good catch...and thanks again!
Hmmmmmm...wondering if I should change the title to this thread...
Well, it's still a Red-Tailed eating dinner, just another family member...happy.gif
