last evening just we were sitting in back yard and saw the most huge migration of birds going from north to south.. there had to be a million-the migration stretched on and on for what seemed like a good 30 minutes. any thought on what kind of bird has this large of migration and headed south.

we live in northwest florida. binoculars could not pick out color of bird- but looked about the size of a robin,,,,

Hi Peggy, I'm south of you in Tampa. I'm outside quite a bit. Three times in the last week, I have seen some very large flocks of birds as well. The group flies in a "swirling" motion. I agree that they are about the size of robins, but I can't detect any color other than grayish brown, even though they fly relatively low. I've been very curious about them too. I hope somebody knows what they are!

I would make the same suggestion as Alan - starlings aggregate in large numbers and the flocks often swirl about at dusk as the starlings are heading for a roosting area.

this large group of birds were in deep rows and occasionally you could see some of them fly back to end of group from time to time. there was a stream of them miles long. i did not recognize any noise from them. will be interesting to see if the same thing happens tonight. getting alot of birds migrating this last week. just wish they were purple martins!!!
