I consider it luck. I happened to be watching out the back window for our current hummer visitor and they happened to be flying SW over our house. They don't nest here in Nebraska, so for those of us here, the only time that anyone will see them is when they are migrating through. My Nebraska Birds book says that it nests in SE South Dakota and parts of Iowa.
