I hate when I notice an unusual bird, but am not able to ID it. I had two of those today. This morning I saw what appeared to be a thrush in the yard. It flew away quickly once I grabbed the binoculars, so I was only able to notice a couple features. I thought it had a brownish stripe on top of its head, which might have made it an ovenbird, but I just didn't get a good enough look. This afternoon I thought I saw a blue-colored bird fly across the yard and land on a clothesline pole, but it flew away before I grabbed the binoculars... again. A bit later I saw the bird again closer to the house, but it flew away quickly again. With this bird all I know is that it was generally blue. There are only so many birds this could have been, but I won't know unless it comes back.
