Going natural

I am a 54 year old African American female with silver, course and thick hair. I would like to go natural and wear a wash and wear look using the same shape of the style I currently wear.

Any suggestions for products while I am letting my relaxer grow out? I do not want to cut it out and I do not want twists, braids or any type of extensions.

What products enhance the natural curl of course thick hair which still has some relaxer in it? What about Pantene curl shaper anti-freeze cream? I want to wash and wear while letting my relaxer grow out. Will plastic rollers help?

Thanks!

Hi There,
I also decided to grow my relaxer out about 2 years ago. Let me just tell you that it is a tuff process. I didn't actually cut my hair, but I got the ends trimmed every 6-8 weeks until the relaxer was gone. I have naturally curly hair. It has a little thickness to it. I just wore pony tails alot. I could also wear my hair curly, because I have a wave pattern that just wont go away. Even after perms, I could wear it curly if I wanted to. So, that made the whole going natural process a little bit easier. I recommend a good leave in conditioner, and a setting lotion. That was what I used. I recommend a uban elements leave-in conditioner by Lanza which you may have to get on the internet to find out where you can buy it at in your city. Just go to Lanza.com, and there should be something about how to locate the product. And I used Queen Helene's dryfast setting lotion. It makes a gallon of setting lotion. The instructions are on the bottle. A good scrunching gel or styling gel. Once all this is applied to the hair comb through into the style you want, and then scrunch! I hope this helps.

Why don't you just hot comb it? That's what I did while I was letting my hair grow out.
