Hi...I wear my hair natural and I blow dried it straight for the first time last weekend, and I was surprised how soft, long and bouncy it was. Is it save for us black folks to blow dry our hair straight after
all or should I rather press my hair with a hot comb?
Also:I live in a humid climate:is there anything i can use to keep my hair from getting all puffy and freezy?
Hi,
Can you please tell me what type of blowdryer and wattage did you use to blowdry your hair straight. I am not able to receive the same effect you did when I use my blowdryer which is 1875 watts. Thank you very much
It's safe to blow dry your hair as long as you do not apply too much heat. Too much heat will breakdown the natural protien bonds in the hair shafts that casues our hair to be 'kinky' or 'coiled'. So yes it is ok to blow dry and maybe even press, but be careful of the amount of heat you use.
I could never acheive the look i wanted from simply blowdrying so i used to blow dry, then press my hair and it was BREAUTIFUL! HOWEVER, i did this once every 2 weeks at a trusted hair salon...heat is torture to the hair shaft and frequent blow drying will eventually blow the hair out! use lots oils,( no grease) such as pure olive oil( mix it with water if its too thick)...and deep condition at least 2-3xs a month
Good luck!
