I think I got a bad relaxer because my hair is falling out really bad. I have patches of hair missing, but you can't tell because I have relatively long hair. My hair has always been thick and long now it is thin and breaking.
What can I do to stop the breakage? I bought some p1000 is that all I need to use.
Okay Tiffani, I have went to the dermatologist who gave me shots in the scalp, prescribed Capex shampoo, glutofac-zx, and a creme for my eczema and apply on scalp every other day.
I have seen my hairdresser who gave me a protein treatment. I have been giving myself protein treatments with p1000 shampoo/conditioner and sitting under a heat cap for at least 1/2 hour.
My hair still looks like it is breaking. I did get a color put in my hair could it be breaking from the color also. It looks like something has been chewing on parts of my hair literally.
I think you should give your hair a break from the chemicals. Relaxer and color expecially used together can do a number on your hair. I would say that you should assess the damage with your hairstylist and see what necessary steps need to be taken to nurse your hair back ot health. Whether it's to cut maybe 1-2 inches and start with fresh new ends or to go natural or something. If you still want to wera your hair striaght ( this is something I do) I would get my hair relaxed, and then when it starts to show signs of new growth get it crownrowed into a style that is suitable for you or makes you look good. That way you don't have to get it as often. You can "freshen" it up by usign a hot come and only pressing the new growth. But don't use one a week before you relax. I relax now every 2 1/2 to 3 months instead of 1 1/2 months. Then after every relaxer get a trim and use a protein treatment to help minimize damage from relaxers. Use alot of moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. YOu also have to use alot of good deep conditoners which contain humectants.
I would say cut down on heating appliances to 2 times a week. Use wetsets if you want curls and wraps if you want your hair straight. Wetset curls hold up better than a curling iron anyways and it's alot less damaging. Either use a hood dryer ( it's safe b/c it's not direct heat)or dry naturally.
If your hair is falling out in patches as a result to a bad perm I would stop the use of chemicals & cut all the damaged ends off.I also perm my hair once every 3 mths.It prevents alot of damage.I also only use heat in my hair once a week & that's when I wash it.I very seldom apply heat to dirty hair.I wash my hair once a week & deep condition it but, most african americans can wait weeks before washing their hair.My hair does'nt like to get dirty so I prefer to wash once a week.In order to keep my hair straight I do warm press my hair but I wait longer than a week before doing that!I at least wait about a month or maybe a month in a half.To make sure not to damamge my hair.I clip my ends after I perm my hair while it's wet for the best results.
