Bi-Racial Children's Hair

I need help. My oldest daughter is 11 and her hair is very fine like mine, but it is very curly. It looks really pretty when its wet but then it just frizzes up. I go to work really early in the morning so I don't have time to help her with it as much in the morning but if she does it at night its a mess in the morning and she can hardly comb through it.
Then my youngest daughter is 7 and her hair is very thick and very curly. About 3 years ago my husband started relaxing it which really helped, i can finally comb through it. He doesn't pull it straight though, it stays in loose curls but of course the relaxing dries it out a lot. My mother in law put it in braids for a while so its really broken off in places. I live in a very small town where all we have is Wal-mart so I am limited on products I can get. Any suggestions?
Thanks, in advance.

bi-racial

I find that lotion or creems improve managability. lotions such as lusters pink oil (or any brand) greatly improve manageablity, but can build up and clog pores. I personally like the Profectiv line of conditioners(often in a creme), They don't include petrolium, or mineral oil so there is not cloging, build up or dirt attraction. Their products are expensive, about four or five dollars for a 4oz. cotainer, but includes no water and is concentrated. I'm biracial and I know how hard it is to deal with hair that is so different from the average person. There so many products for "blacks" and "whites", but not for biracials. If you find out any good tips please send them to me. Also I apply these moisterizers in sections to make the proccess easier.

do u do treatments?

May 20 2005, 12:09 PM

How often do u wash their hair?
-You should not go any longer than 1 week.
What kind of treatments do u use?
You need to do a protein treatment at least ever 5 weeks followed by a deep moisturizing treatment right after.
You should also do deep moisturizing treatments at least once a week.

I can definately help u, but u need to tell me more about what u are doing.

I wash my hair every week, plus or minus a couple days depending on schedules. I was using vo5 shower works, but that had a high ph so i stopped using it. now I just heat up some africa's best herbal oil and put that on after I shampoo. I used to use pink oil all the time until I found out about mineral oil. I tried profectiv's long and healthy which is concentrated but has the perfect consistancy for hair management. after the first time I bought it I couldn't find it since. (There are no 'Black' hair care stores around here. What kind of protien treatment should I use and where would I get it from. What do I do for deep conditioning. What is the purpose of the order of washing, treating, and conditioning. I've been to a lot of cites recently, just out of curiosity where did you get my contact so I know what i'm using. I believe my hair type is 3c for the most part. I'm thinking about going to get my hair texturized. I know they speak in percentages when it comes to that. How much do you think i should texturize if I want to do the minimum in order to increase managability and versility. my hair is like a semi afro and I want it to lay down more (even though I can't make a real afro if I tried. Thanks for your time and effort, not everyone is so willing to help another understand. When you reply mark or title the message urgent so i read it befor my junk mail. Thanks Again.

special info on treating biracial hair???

May 20 2005, 12:29 PM

Hair texture is key and not so much race. A biracial person can have any texture of hair. Black people can have any texture of natural hair too. Sometimes people with two black parents may have the same hair texture as someone w/parents of two different races.
Hair types can be categorized on a scale from 1a-4b. They can be found in Oprah's hair dresser's book, Andre Talks Hair.
