Yerevan May Recognize Karabakh In Response To Baku Policy

20.03.2008

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The UN resolution on Karabakh is nothing but Azerbaijan’s attempt to counterbalance the one adopted on Kosovo’s independence and to prove that Kosovo can’t set a precedent for Nagorno Karabakh, Armenian President Robert Kocharian told a news conference today.

“If Baku proceeds with its policy, Yerevan will recognize independence of Nagorno Karabakh and conclude military agreements with it. With its state institutes and ability to defend borders, Nagorno Karabakh has more rights to independence than Kosovo,” he said.

As to Baku’s statements on dismissal of the OSCE Minsk Group, President Kocharian said, “The OSCE MG is the best format. If Baku isn’t satisfied with the format of talks, it doesn’t mean that we should give it up. Let them not negotiate if they don’t want to. However, in this case Azerbaijan will shoulder the responsibility for development of the negotiation process.”
