- - for a Big Band. I played for some years with the (kind of) last of the Big Bands in Glasgow in the late 50's, early 60's. This was a rehearsal band, most of the guys were working in the many Glasgow Dance Halls but in smaller combos, maybe 5 piece or so and we got together once a week just to have the fun of playing the big band standards - you'll know them all, 'One O'Clock Jump', 'Take the A Train', 'I've got my Love to keep me warm' and so on.
We gigged together maybe once or twice a year usually for a Charity/Benefit show, good times though!
Guitar, Slap Bass, Bass Guitar and Banjo me! Played in the "Albert Ballroom" in Glasgow, also where I first learned to dance Ballroom and Latin. Pity we're not all a lot nearer each other, we could put together a decent band, and myself and Mrs Mel could demonstrate the dances 8<)
Horological content :- Do you think we could all keep time
with each other??
