making the case matte

I love my new weekender, but there's one thing that I would rather have different, if possible. I'd love the case to be not as shiney, and instead I'd rather it be matte. Do you think that if I took a really fine grit sand paper and sanded the shiney/silver case I'd get a more matte look? THe reason why is that I wear my watch with often dark colors, and the shine throws the look off a bit. Thanks
