Work to do!

What I have here is enough parts to make a couple of really nice examples of the Sh model. The one missing the slider doesn't run, but the dial is superb. As I look at the piece that the slider attaches to, it all seems to be there. The end is squared off. Does anyone know how these were attached? Is there some guidance to removing the stop, start, and reset mechanism? Before I start ripping things apart, any guidance? Thanks!
