friday carbel sports

a radium special. pretty rustic movement for a swiss made. no jewels. the case is not corroded, just not cleaned up yet. the crystal has gone yellow. i don't know why it's called "sports". and probably wasn't very water resistant even when new, but with a little oil here and there it's keeping time and will get a definitely-non-sportive outing today. it's been sitting patiently for at least two years in my "one day if i have time" box, so i gave it a try last night and it sprang to life before my very eyes and seems quite happy about the change in circumstances. but i haven't been able to get a line on its history. nothing came up on the net. anyone heard about this brand? looks to be 20s or 30s, but i've no real idea. happy fri 13th. thanks, tim
