Another one back to life

I've been getting more free time at the moment so have been working through my unfinished projects.

Got this nice Smiths Empire back together tonight.

I stripped it down and cleaned and oiled it but it kept running fast. I tried a couple of times cleaning the hairspring. Looking at it through a loupe, all the coils on the hairspring were bunched on one side. I "suspect" it may have been magnetised. It was in storage in a box of junk for 20-30 years so who knows what it was next to.

I purchased a cheap de-magnetiser and passed the movement through it. Whether it was that, or the final clean I gave the balance, I don't know but it is running sweetly and the coils are centred and breathing ( I think this is term) smoothly.

Anyone else had a magnetised one?

Excuse my 'arty' shots, playing with my new camera! 60's watch next to a 60's car wink.gif but the light was fading fast.
