Not that kind of ring Ian, the one you refer to fits around the dial, then the crystal gets pressed in. The watch I'm working on loads from the back, the dial rests against the interior of the case and has a plastic holder around the movement, then the case back.

The crystal was fitted in with this highly polished ring that held a thin rim of the crystal under it, the ring fitted inside the crystal. These are mentioned on this site in past threads. Last detail...the case is stainless, not chrome plated.
