the faceted crystal can be easily finger pressed into the bezel and then the ring must be pressed in on top of it to forcefully hold it down against the bezel. They probably use a special tool for this at the factory.

You might try placing the faceted crystal in position in the bezel and then chilling the ring in ice water. The drop in temperature of the ring will contract its diameter a bit and then, if you work quickly before it returns to room temperature, you can, hopefully, also easily finger press the ring into the bezel and over the rim of the crystal. When the ring finally reaches room temperature, everything should be firmly seated and water resistant.
