I, too, prefer to completely dissemble a watch movement when servicing it. That way, IF there are any hardened pieces of rancid lubricant that have built up inside of the bearing nests on the plates, they can be manually extracted with the point of a pin. Sometimes just cleaning the assembled movement in a solution will not completely remove these.
Unfortunately, for most of the two plate Timex movements, complete dissembly is not practical because one might never get all of the parts back together again!
