obsession is sort of like an itch that won't go away. You scratch it with a new acquisition periodically which provides transitory relief from the itch, but, before you know it, your itching again!
I've had many such "itches" in my time and either one of two things happened. The itch suddenly and quite unexplainedly went away of its own accord or I had to go "cold turkey" for awhile to cure the itch by staying away from the objects of my obsession. My cold turkey approach was usually prompted by others who convinced me that I was "overdoing it" (oddly, they always seemed to turn a blind eye to their own obsessions!).
On the one hand I do love watches and wearing them, but to keep my itch under control, I now limit my collection to only a few pieces (less than a dozen at any time and if I exceed this limit I give away my least worn piece to a friend in need of a watch) and am content to just view the various timepieces that are out there.
I'm still hunting for that "perfect" watch that will be the only one I'll wear daily for the rest of my life. I "know" it's out there and, sooner or later, I'll have it on my wrist!
