Re: What Are Your Requirements for Owning a Watch?

Keeping COSC time is only necessary on the newer watches I buy (if they are supposed to). I really don't care if my vintage watches lose a minute or so a day because I change them often so they are not what I would consider "daily" watches.
I probably have around 300 watches now, but I seem to keep to wearing around 30 of them. The rest are part of a collection. My character watch collection has many watches that are kids size. I couldn't wear them if I wanted to.
Others may get worn from time to time or I may keep them due to their rarity. I overhauled many of them so long ago, that it is possible they don't work now (or may need service if I wanted to wear them).
Lately, like TG, I have been finding it harder to "see" something that I just have to have. Can't remember the last time I bought a watch. For example, I have been swimming 4 times a week and decided that I didn't want to wear my expensive Omega Planet Ocean in the pool any more (although it is perfectly suited for that). I shopped around for weeks looking for a nice diver watch to use as a pool-beater, then realized I have so many watches here, I must have something I could use. I eventually dug up my old Citizen Eco-Drive diver watch and have been using that. I think in the back of my mind I didn't want to add another watch to my list.
