      Then you would end up with a watch and a piece of paper stuck to the dial.

      If one of your fan blades for your vehicle's radiator fan breaks off you don't epoxy it back together, and no you don't replace the car either. You replace that component.
      A dial is one whole component, not just the lettering. The lettering helps make up the dial. Unless it can be done to look exactly like the rest I say new dial.

      Plus swapping dials wouldn't be very hard, if you look at the second picture the hands have already been removed.
