Oke... bought from scrap... these two where it the Lot.. none running, dirtly like hell.

See if you can spot the difference..

The left is newer then the right, The right has this "Q" on top.
Both are Hardened plastic cased versions. The right has a realy
quick radius on Date setting, the Left has a Quick Setting option.
Both have fabelous Lumen! The right is from 1987! The left probably
a year or 2 later. Do they run? Yes ofcourse they run wink.gif New battery
(took me a week to find a store here that sold these..).

Intresting part.. The inner Quartz movement. Look at it..
The left probably a fully enginered Quartz movement with only small
parts in metal. Smaller but not lighter though!.. The right Yes thats
an evolution from the early Quartz. More metal.

Water resistant? Well its states 25 Meters.. so i wont give it a try..

Funny thing.. Both same hands and slightly different dial layout. Because
the right has its date more to the Right and is located inside the ring.
And look at that RED recond hand.

The lugs are vintage 19mm bit they both have a 20mm NATO band. The size of the
watches are identical... width: 36mm x 43mm lug-lug x 14mm height!.. Beautly's in black!
And they might be a little smaller in width thats not even a problem with this NATO band
im wearing one now..looks great...

Wow what a nice catch..running on time. Great!

Here they are..

That model (specifically the Q model on the right) was my first Timex...it's an alternate edition Black Max!

I was a teenager, and my father got it for me for my birthday. I had had some other watches previously, but they were kids watches...this was the first "real" watch I owned.

Totally loved it. As it was the 1980s and every other watch *didn't* have an elapsed time bezel (like now), it pretty different than what most people wore, and I recall explaining the bezel's operation to a number of people.

Did everything with it: swimming, outdoor summer jobs, parties, dates, and it held up great. Went through 2 straps, and eventually was retired for a Timex Atlantis 100. Don't know what happened to it though.

They were pretty rare at the time...I don't recall ever seeing anyone else with one (the "regular" Black Max was much more common though).

Great watches and thanks for the trip down memory lane!

but I finally snagged a First Edition Black Max from an antique dealer on eBay a couple of years ago. He sold it CHEAP! This case is all metal and no nicks in the case whatsoever.

The strap was not so good, but I found an identical rubber replacement with a deployment buckle. Here are some pix:

Two more models I have never seen before. The black case with the black bezel looks great, and they did the right thing by making the date window black with white numbers too!
