I just got this gorgeous Dynabeat. I got it to work, now I need to know how to change the crystal. I've never removed a crystal before and I have to get a crystal removal tool, but I don't even know how to use one!

I will be corrected if I am wrong, but step 1..get yourself a good crystal remover, they have fingers and kind of screw to put pressure all the way around the crystal..step 2, remove the bezel ring (I think this should just pry off)..step 3 place the remover so the fingers rest on the case and tighten the knob until you can rotate the crystal then just a little tighter and rock it slightly, the crystal should come off..usually I advise to leave the crystal in the remover as to facilitate replacing it, but in this case you are really replacing it!..I dont have any suggestions on putting a new on on, Ive done it but judgement a few times, can be frustrating. Good luck..looks like you might be attempting a re-lume on the hands?

I'm going to order a crystal remover today. The bezel on this one rotates and I didn't know how it came off. I still wish I knew someone that fixes watches! I may try reluming it if I ever get the crystal off. If it proves too difficult, I will try to find a watchmaker to send it to.

Removing the bezel

I worked on the same watch a couple of months ago. Mine must have belonged to a painter (you can imagine the work I had to get it clean...).

Anyway, for step 2, I would suggest that you use a knife to GENTLY pop out the bezel ring. Just place the knife under the ring and go around. It should come off easily and then you will probably have a nice amount of DNA to clean off...

LOL.
Simple just buy the multi finger gripper type, I have great luck with this one. simply open till you can slip it over the crystal
and crank down till the crystal loosens up down over do it, if it starts to turn easily then it should just pull right off. reverse to install but you will need the setting plate. the pics show what you need. Doesn't work with every crystal but just about.
These have worked well for me although there are the occasional
crystals that can be easily pushed back on with thumbs.

Thanks so much! I'll give it a shot and hopefully I won't mess it up. It's a great watch.

Will you give re-luming the hands a try? If so, there are many posts you can serach that will walk you thru the process.

Good Luck! Be sure to post an after pic too.

I think, if I get the crystal off, I'll go ahead and try reluming. They still glow, but it's dim.
