I'm thinking it looks "too" good for it's age, but OTOH if it was sold in Chinasia as new, it would be an import to PRC at that time, and likely only affordable to those with a relatively high disposable income, possibly high up party members or the likes, and as such would lead a privileged life. That would explain the good condition.
Then again, in th absence of any input from Bill D as Historian, was it ever a genuine Timex model? and has it now been cobbled together with just a Timex dial and hands - but then Timex hands don't fit too many movements - - lots of questions. Dials can be made to "fit" about any movement with sticky pads nowadays
Then again. might be worth a punt at the price, it's not outrageous as a piece of interesting horo-history if we could prove it as genuine?
Does anyone have a clue as to the year? Catalogue? other info?
