Thanks John, I've not been able to find much on the watch other than its is late 40's since it is a cal83. Soif you can point me to any website etc, that would be great.
As for the watch itself, I aquired it from a local estate buyer a few months back. No case, broken stem, broken balance staff. I asked Greg if he would asset the effort and if cost effective to proceed with the restore. It underwent a full tear down and rebuild. This included him having to fashion a stem and provide a suitable case.
So how do you know it is rare?

I owned one of these in the early sixties. I was skiing in Switzerland, while on tour with a rock group I played in and lost it when I took it off and thought I'd zipped it in my jacket pocket for safety.
A few years back I tried to replace it and was staggered to find them extremely scarce and around £2,500 (I was living in UK then). The IWC was the best watch I've ever had and kept brilliant time.
Thanks for the tip re repairers. Looking at your IWC I'll contact Greg re the Toptime.

The movement production date is from 1938. This information was found on the IWC forum. As for the value, well it is no longer in the oringal case which I belive would have been gold. But if you want it for £2,500 I'll consider it!

I always said if I owned a nice watch one day I would wear it every day and beat the crap out of it to get my moneys worth. If I won tghe lottery I would by a Patak Philippe 3919 white gold or a Patek 3970 Perpetual calender chrono and wear it to change the oil on my cars and bikes. So anyways I bought a Rolex 5513 Sub. Wore it maybe 10 times in 3 years. I always went back to my Seiko, Bulova, Timex, and cheap watches.
Whether it was the value of the sub,the asthetics, or whatver I just didn't wear it.
Anyways, today I wore my restored resto mod late 1920's Elgin to work today (much cheaper than a 5513 and wore 50 times as often) I can;t seem to find a photo to post.
After work it is my go to trusty spent more than it is worth to get restored 1990's Omega Dynamic.
