I recently aquired this 1966 21j.

It ran well but was pretty dirty, with a scratched crystal and a cheap stretchy band.

It also had hands which had corroded green. Something I've seen on a few from this period.

Cleaned up nicely and ditched the band for a nice brown leather strap.

I polished up the hands. In doing so, most of the original lume came out, so I've relumed them.

It could do with a new crown (I didn't have any that fitted) and there is some corrosion on the underside of the case but it doesn't show when it's being worn.

It came with the box though. Nice addtion.

She is a beauty! The crystal looks pretty good.

Is that the original box?

Thanks.

I think it's the original box but who knows for sure.

I used different grades of wet and dry then polywatch on the crystal. Brings it up well. Any marks on it are dust.

Cheers

Has anyone here EVER actually come across the 1962( I believe) 21 jewel with the fancy dancy 21 with a wreath around it? I am beginning to thinks it is mythical!

Meanwhile, CCCP for today!

Hey Mike, not heard from you for a while. This one is similar to the one you sent me. I don't think it had a crown though.

The movement from that now powers one of my divers, (David style).

Nice digital

Hope you have a great time.

The weather has been amazing here, and by amazing, I mean amazingly bad wink.gif

Days and days of rain, flooding in many parts of the country.

Make sure you pack your wellies!

1962 21J self wind

The manual shows the 1962 21J self wind as having the wreath. This has been a topic of speculation for years but I do not think they actually were made. The actual '62 is shown below. There are other discrepancies in the manual. For instance, the tic tack toe Funtimer shows a #24 movement but actually has a #23 like the Super Thin it shares a case with. Also, the picture of the #50 movement in the Service Manual shows a day-date model whereas it does not actually have these features.

Wreathed 21, if it exists I will find one! I am relentless about things sometimes, even to the point of distraction!
