Not sure Ray Ray. We may have 2 separate groups going. One on Thursday night and one on Friday night. I will just have to wait until I get a list of people wanting to go then I will make that decision. I will try to work around every ones scedules the best I can.
Last year we all left the same time but one group came back early.
Ray Ray, you just wouldn't believe how much fun you would have. I would make sure you will be the but of many jokes, lol...

I would like to thank everyone who has helped out with this ministry and for your prayers. With your help, we are going to be able to share the gospel with between 1,000 - 20,000 inmates in 4 days.
There has been a little change to the Freedom Tour this year. Instead of visiting 2 facilities each day, Ron has tried to get us into 3 facilities each day. Not sure how it will work out, but I sure am glad I don't have to drive home. Also got us set up for a couple basketball games in a youth facility.
I wanted to give some info about our financial position as some on the board helped us out. We cleared $850 from the tournament at Pontotoc. Wish it would have been more but $750 for the 3 fields, $600 for the drinks, not sure how much for the food, and $25 per game per ump (this seems a little high). We also made an additional $200 from the bat. We have had a few more donations and are expecting a few more.
But our gas for the trip is paid for. Another $250 will cover our hotel expense. Looks like we will have to pay for our food. We have been greatly blessed.
We will be leaving out around 5:00 pm next Thursday and returning around midnight Monday.
We have 10 men going from our area:
Johnny Adams
Jason Culver
Johnny Box
Dexter Goode
Gary Haycraft
Lucas Culver
Michael Adams
Randy Bolen
Patrick Caldwell
and lastly...Ray Ray
Bill Sarver from Missouri will be driving down to join our group.
Carlos Dawson and Carl Upton from down south will be joining us also.
There will also be guys coming from California, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and maybe Texas.

Sorry for letting everyone know about our weekend so late. After I returned from Florida, AT&T sent me to the gulf to acess the damage from Gustav. But anyway...
It was an awesome weekend. Men from 6 states met for 3 days. We did not play Monday due to Gustav coming through. We saw over 200 men come forth to make a committment to the Lord. There were numerous one-on-one moments this year. It was awesome to look out over the field and see our guys out there on there knees praying with the inmates and each other.
My thanks goes out to Jason Culver for leading the speaking for the younger team for those 2 days. I know you did a great job.
My thanks goes out to Carlos Dawson. Man, you were everywhere. God used you in more ways than you know. It was a blessing to be around you again. See you next weekend.
As for the ball playing...
RayRay had one of the highest batting averages. He flat out hit it. Man, you are a blast to be around.
Carlos actually hit 7 HRs out of 8 atbats at one institute and the fence was way out there.
Carl, well, he can hit-em. Man you got a BIG swing. He was hitting bombs that never got over 10-15 feet. And he did an awesome job at 3rd. I guess you'll have to come back to see if you can get under one a little.
Oh, and for a surprise game. We played a 45+ team. THey may have been older than that. We had picked the older guys on our teams. We had a very competitive team. We had a couple under 35. We also had some BOMBERS. Well, let's just say, they drummed us. I don't remember the score (thankfully) but I think they beat us by 15+ runs. We hit a bunch of HRs and they only hit 3.

I was having to hit the homeruns because I have gotten so fat I can't run anymore! I either made 4 or 5 outs total in the three days and like you said God blessed me with a wind that was blowing out at the prison with the old men that beat us so bad and I hit 7 homeruns but we got beat pretty bad regardless! Every time I turned around John was talking to me about how far Johnny hit a ball that didn't go out. I kept telling him that it didn't go out although it was hit about 500 foot. It was a pop fly that was hit so far their fastest outfielder couldn't get to it. It was hit well. Johnny, you get farthest hit ball that didn't go out and JJ gets second place. He hit one on the field with the volley ball courts that went a long way too.
All that was great but the main thing was that God's Spirit was moving at almost every prison we visited. I know that some of those places are tougher than others but God broke strongholds and set men free during the ministry. It was because we were prayed up and God went before us! There was no doubt after witnessing to some of those guys and them talking about the dreams and events leading up to the ministry that God had been dealing before we ever arrived. God was at work!!! I am just blessed to be able to be a part of something so rewarding spiritually!!! God is awesome!! | |
