ISA Winter Championship Jamboree (Championship Rings) Feb 7th New Albany Sports Plex

January 5 2009 at 3:04 PM
Big D  (no login)

This was going to be a series of tourneys but after having issues getting field locations decided to go to just one tourney championship

ISA Sanctioned Tourney- Will have to pay your 1 time 25.00 sanction fee

All ISA rules apply, you will see the list of new rules very soon

Any 44/375 ball can be used

HR will be 1 to 3 low bid at home plate then an out

This Tourney is open to the White,Blue, and yellow classes under the new ISA standards.

If a lower team plays a upper team there is a new Equilizer rule in ISA that will apply. I just want to make this fair and give everyone a chance to win.

----Equalizer Rule: Because some sanctioned tournaments will often involve teams from different classes playing each other, 5 runs will be spotted to a team when they play a team from a class above them and 10 runs will be spotted to a team if they play a team two classes above them. This will hopefully encourage smaller teams to play in some bigger tournaments. (Example-If a Blue team plays a Yellow team, the Yellow team will be spotted 5 runs at the beginning of the game. If a White team plays a Yellow team, the Yellow team will be spotted 10 runs at the beginning of the game.) This rule will only be used when tournaments are held where differently classed teams play each other.----

Prize Package

1st place- Championship Rings and Tshirts
2nd place- Bat and Tshirts
3rd place- Tshirts

Entry is $165.00

Need at least 12 teams in this tourney

Dustin 416-3094
Michael 415-6803
Tony 396-1344

This sounds like a great tournament, just wish it was a little later in the year. Most teams haven't started that early.

I can guarantee that if you had this May thru late August, you'd have more teams than you could handle.

Any chances of moving it back to later in the year?

This is the winter Championship i am sure there will be a later version about april or 1st of may for the spring summer championship. This will give a couple of diffrent teams from the area to walk away with championship rings. Something some have never had the chance to play for. I look foward to seeing all of you in 09 and hope you all a great year.

What are you going to do if a team get in with player that classified all 3 White,Blue, and yellow classes?

Good question. Most teams playing that time of year are pickups. It would be hard to sanction a pick-up team. What will you do if a team have players from differents classes playing with them?

Sanctioning

January 6 2009, 6:40 AM

That's a great question, I know typically if you sanction with one team, that team has to release you, in order for you to play with another sanctioned team. The problem is, once you're released from the first team, you cannot go back to them in the same calendar year.

I think it's great that Big D is having sanctioned tournaments. It keeps everyone from loading up with higher class players and from teams sandbagging. The real question there will be the state director classifying teams (Storm, 662 to name a few) in their right classes.

January 6 2009, 8:14 AM

Yes my team(MS Storm) and 662 are in the correct classes in ISA. You will get to see the list very soon of the teams and were they are classed at. To the question you asked. Lets just say you sanction as a yellow team but you need to pick up. You are only allowed to pick up 2 players from classes above you. There for you will still be able to play in the yellow division. I am sure there will be a few pickup teams but you still will have to sanction the team and according to the ISA rules the TD, UIC, or state director has the right to move any team at any time to a new class.

Hope this better explains it, like I said i believe Jeremy is going to post the MS ISA rules today along with the team classification list.

Thanks
Big D

I heard the Nighthawk's were in the Yellow. Why are they playing in the lower? Hell why not play Rec. They claim to be so good but hide all the time.

I heard that the teams that played in the D last year would be moved to the C at the state level and then could move back down to D at he national level. Kind of curious. Not a bad idea if you ask me. But I bet he won't put his team in the C. Kind of weird that you get to classify your own team.

Saw this posted on the TN website a few weeks ago. It doesn't have any dates, but it confirms that TN has several big ISA tournaments:

WORLD & NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS - Tennessee has been recognized for all of the support that everyone has given to ISA over the last 2 years with the number of National Tournaments that we have been given for 2009. We have been given a great chance to show even more how softball in Tn. is by far the best of any other state if we can get better numbers than ever before in our National Events. This year Tennessee ISA will host: Senior World Series, Men's Elite World, Church World, C Class National Invitational, E Class National Invitational, and yes the Men's C, D and E Southern Regional World Tournaments. These are the tournaments that were in FL, SC and AL last year. Instead of traveling everywhere to play and then going to the World Series in FL, now you can play in your own back yard as the last step of winning a spot into the World Series. This is a great award to be given to Tn. and to our teams and players for supporting ISA. So, I ask that everyone please try and make this event so we can continue to bring major tournaments to Tn in the future.

There pretty nice rings that USSSA gives away at alot of there tourneys i get them thru there company.

There basically gold plated rings with like a ball and bat emblem in the center with stars on the sides of the rings.

Thanks

Ok guys this has got a little out of hand...And being a player and a coach sure it is a little early to through sanctioned events but i am just tring to help ISA grow in MS. But after everyones concerns on the roster(and trust me i do understand) I have talked with our state director and were still going to classify teams and use the equilizer rule but we are not going to sanction the the tourney so you don't have to worry about paying your sanctioning fee this weekend. Myself the state director and other directors accross the midsouth will help me with pick up teams. I have been in the game for a long time and know most of the teams and players so i pretty much know were everyone belongs

THanks and if you have any other question please call me or email me

Dustin

Also were going to use the same rules as posted above and just go with 3hr's strait accross the board there will be know bidding system or anything to that nature.

Thanks again
