It looks just as ISA started to take off in MS it is starting to die off in TN. Why is this? Rumor has it that Mike King the local ISA director in Bartlett had a big hand in this. ISA was the biggest draw in thia area for a long time, but the last couple of years the number of teams playing it has dropped. The reason for this is due to Mike telling teams what class they have to play. It is hard for somebody to tell someone how to spend there money. This is very true up here. He thought he could just tell people what class to play and they would play it. But the truth is slowly but surely they stopped playing it and now everybody associated with ISA has got out and went to NSA. My advice for MS, is don't follow in Mike's foot steps or you will be in the same situation.
So every one can keep sandbagging? That sounds about right! Wa Wa Waaaaaaaaaa!

Well with Jason Lewis wanting the job it will be the same he thinks everyone likes him but they don't. I know alot of people want play in anything that's his just because of him. Also know that someone else in the state has been contacted aboutthe NSA job so when Jazon does kill ISA we will still have a good assocition to play

Well if providing bats for ISA tourneys so things will be equal, having true same class teams playing in the right class with the option to drop down 1 at worlds, trying to open up some local tourneys for "C" class teams, and taking ISA down south so they can enjoy the game as much as the north teams is gonna kill ISA, then you are right, It's dead.

I agree the only reason it died or will die is because TEAMS like some that are in the works for next yr want to sandbag and get their rocks off by not playing in the CLASS THEY BELONG

I have a question for Big Poppa. I don't have a problem using tournament bats. But I hope you have the same type of bat I have been swingging all year. If I have used a 1 piece worth titan all year, I hope you have one. Don't want to swing a balanced bat when I have been swingging an end loaded one all year. What if somebody has been using a 2 piece bat all year and then you put a one piece out there. What if you have a Worth, Easton, Miken, Combat, or Mizuno contract and that is all you can swing. Are you going to have one of each in the same weight they have been swinging all year? Are you going to allow teams to take your bats out before the game and take BP to get a feel for the bats that you have provided? I just don't think it is right to make a man switch bats after he has been swinging the same one all year. What is the purpose of going out spending $300 on a bat, taking BP all year with it just to get a feel and to break it in, and then come to ISA swing a totally different bat. That isn't right. This game is made for the players. Remeber that....We pay the entry fees and don't have a say in what class we play, the balls we hit, and now the bats we have to use. I for one don't like the idea. I know you are trying to make the game more fair, but that isn't the way to do it. They tried that in AL this year and nobody that I talked to liked it. Does baseball sit the same bats behind the plate, does NASCAR let you practice in your car all week long and then provide cars for eveybody on race day, does football tell them they have to use the same play book, does track and field have to wear the same shoes or swimming suits. The answer is NO. They all have rule they have to abide by and the rules are enforced. You are making your own set of rules up as you go. Read the rule book and do as it says. Don't take out or add as you see fit.

First off if you can hit it don't matter what bat you use. Either you can hit or you can't.

I actually really like the fact of you providing the bats. It will show which team is good and which team wins with their hott bats. Say what you want but a shaved bat can win you a game.

Thanks for the input and I do understand what you are saying about the bats. I plan on getting the most popular bats to provide. This is not a done deal. I'm exploring several options and talking with the other associations. I'm yet to get in contact with Larry from usssa or EJ from NSA. If anyone can get them a message that I would like to talk with them I would appreciate it. I have no plans to change rules, just want to make the game as competitive as I can. Over the years we have had teams stay in D that need to be playing C. I think we have several teams that can play C and we can have C tournaments again without having to travel 4 to 5 hours every weekend to play. We also have to allow teams the opportunity to play in some local tourneys. I'm working on some ways to allow that. I'm trying to make it worth while for the tourney directors and the D and E teams that participate. I don't think we should have these C teams trying to go to the predominately lower tournament sites and run through the field of teams, but we have several tourneys in the area that should allow them to play. I plan on having tourneys in the South as well. ISA is one of the best associations and I want teams all over the state to have the opportunity to play. I've made some deals that will bring some very good prize packages to ISA tourneys. I want this to be about the players, so feel free to email me your ideas and we will see if it will work.
