I ask you whether those people, who probably for the most part have a decent collection of wealth and material things, actually enjoy a "quality of life" that is anywhere near the farmer in a little village, with the little church at the center of his life, who works hard for what little he has, but pays honor to God and has time to enjoy the air and the trees and the beauty and integrity of life around him.

I think I know that guy. Sounds like this antisocial celibate Buddhist I know who lives on top of a mountain in Virginia, only his god isn't an anthropomorphic one requiring honor who owns a a church requiring money.

Economics is a means... not an end.

True, as long as one remembers that the best way to help the poor is to not become one of them. happy.gif
