Close Encounter With
Bigfoot In Pennsylvania
From Researcher Stan Gordon
paufo@westol.com
8-21-03

Late on the evening of August 15, 2003, I received a report from a witness who sounded quite shaken as she provided me with the details of what she had experienced in the early morning hours of that day. I conducted a detailed interview with the woman over the phone. I was able to go to the scene to conduct an interview and investigation on August 17, 2003. The following is a brief summary of the information I was able to obtain.

The woman was making sandwiches for her husband's lunch, when she realized that she had no lettuce in the refrigerator. The family raised their own vegetable garden which was close to their home, so the woman decided to go outside at about 12:30 A.M. to gather some fresh lettuce. The garden is off to the right side of the residence, and there is some illumination in the area from a light that shines from the rear of their home. The woman picked the lettuce that
she needed, then stood up and turned, when her attention was drawn towards a tree about 8 feet away.

Under the tree with it's back leaning against the trunk, was a massive hair covered man-like creature whose head was just touching an overhanging branch. The branch when measured was 96 inches off the ground. The creature was described as covered with long black hair, arms down to the knees, and very broad shouldered. The woman only seconds after seeing it, walked swiftly back into the house where she awakened two other family members, who responded within minutes with guns. When they went outside, the creature was gone. The grass under the tree appeared to have been freshly matted down.

The family noticed that their dog whose house was about 50 feet away from the garden, was not barking, and was hiding in the back of it's pen which was not normal. No sounds or smells were reported. The woman was so shocked to see the creature that she didn't watch it long enough to notice many details. She was quite upset by the experience and said that the height and body size of the creature stuck in her mind. The witness stated to me that after the encounter she cried all night and was terrified.

While I looked over the area for any possible evidence, about 50 feet away in another garden area, I found two possible footprints that had apparently been there for a while. There has been a lot of rain in the area, and the weather had indeed affected the condition of these prints. The tracks were about 15 inches long, but no toes could be discerned. There was a distance of about 42 inches between the two possible prints.

This is the same property where a Bigfoot was reported on two seperate occassions last September. The family wishes to remain anonymous, and has asked me not to identify the location of these occurrences other than to state that this is in Derry Township in Westmoreland County. This is a very wooded area with a large deer population. The area is not far from the Chestnut Ridge, a mountain range where numerous Bigfoot encounters have been reported for years. This woman has now had two encounters with a similar Bigfoot creature, and she has indicated to me that this last experience had really scared her.

April 13,2003-About 5 miles from the previous location, I had received a report of another possible Bigfoot encounter that was reported by three witnesses. These people reported seeing a tall creature with it's arms swinging, as it walked into a cornfield, And then ran off. The PA Bigfoot Society is investigating the incident as well.

April or May, 2003-Scottdale, Fayette County-I interviewed a man in July, who told me how he and his young daughter were riding a motor bike in a rural area when suddenly a figure emerged from the right and stopped directly in front of them at a distance of about 75 feet. What they saw was described as "a hairy man" that was estimated to stand about 6 1/2 feet tall, had long arms, appeared to be stooped over, and was covered with black hair. The creature looked at the two people for just seconds, then ran off into the woods. The witnesses returned home to tell the family about what they had seen.

The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society is also investigating some other possible Bigfoot activity in the state.

PBS Message Board Policy

by (Login ericalt1)
Forum Owner

I recently banned two people from my message board. The reason I did so was a combination of unjustified attacks on me and negative postings about a researcher who was claimed to have passed away. I do not know if the researcher passed away or not. I was not there. It is not of my concern.

All I stated was that I along with two other people met a man named Mike Morrow in March of 2002. Was this the same person that all the controversy surrounds? I really dont know, and I really dont care. I dont understand why people are making such a big deal out of it, but again, it is not my buisness.

There were several posts not approved on my board and im sure many more that will not be approved, as I was accused of harboring evidence. Taking sides with researchers against certain persons.

Here is the point plain and simple. I DO NOT WANT FIGHTING OR BICKERING ON THE PBS MESSAGE BOARD. IF ANYONE HAS A BEEF WITH ANYONE, TAKE IT ELSEWHERE.

I am tired of problems popping up on my message board. I have never had anyone come onto my board until recently attacking other people or trying to stir up problems. I do not want the PBS message board shut down and I will not approve attacking posts. If anyone has a problem with that, email me privately. I will not let problems and personal feuds be posted on the PBS board. I have worked too hard to get the board to where it is to let problems arrise. I do not have a problem with anyone, nor a beef with any one. I just don't want it on the PBS message board. I am an open minded researcher who feels that every avenue should be researched.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and just because it is different from what you believe does not make them right or wrong. If anyone has insulting things to say about me, or anyone else for that matter, do not post it on the PBS message board. Take it elsewhere!

Except for other sound files. This is also on Bill Asmussen's web site. But if I'm ever outside at night and here such a "serenade" coming from the river bottom behind my home, I'll think I've died and gone to heaven. Bigfoot vocals don't match anything that I know of, except maybe Tarzan. :D

Henry Franzoni former IVBC head

by (Login Hdesertbigfootmod)

It is interesting to note that Henry,as a maverick researcher and IVBC head was a paranormalist for many years.Below are some of his field experiences.
He was also a personal witness to a Sasquatch entering a UFO.

"I often read the posts here, with fond memories of the
search. I began the search once, camping in the woods,
packing binoculars and cameras and night vision gear.
Playing tapes, baiting, whatever,.. usually waiting
all night on mountain peaks quietly. Almost immediately
I hooked up with other researchers, hooked up with funds, then I indirectly helped build some very fancy night vision gear using seismic detectors and microwave relay video transmissions to a home base. This device was placed in a wilderness area for two years. I helped with a $250,000 scientific analysis of the Patterson film that produced a science report, I started a bigfoot discussion list, tried my absolute best to get people(especially scientists and policy makers), to take bigfoot researcfh seriously. I helped some people run a bigfoot incident report 800 number for 5 years,I helped many bigfooters make web sites including Ray Crowe, Peter Byrne, Rene Dahinden, Chris Murphy,Matt Moneymaker, and Ron Morehead. I helped a lot of bigfooters, all sizes and shapes of bigfooters.
I helped investigate 400 sightings in the northwest. I
compiled a huge database of sighting reports, I looked
for patterns, I made maps, I studied, and studied and
studied. I made movies, I became a bigfoot spokesman,
I presented my results at symposiums. Some of you
probably know who I am by now. I battled for credibility,I argued scientifically with anyone who'd listen.
I did the best possible research I could, I constantly
evaluated my methodology, I used logic, I used the
rules of good thinking, I went out in the woods, I
waited by a phone, I went with groups, I went alone.
There was a helicopter with a FLIR standing ready if
one of us ever found anything.
Nevertheless, I must use a pseudonym, I cannot come
forward with what I have to say. What I have to say
is too crazy, too unwelcome, not helpful, not somethin
that would help get bigfoot researchers taken seriously.
This is part of why I left the scene. I no longer
could participate in something where I had to present
a false face all the time. It was too much for me.
I had to consider people's systems of belief,
people's cherished notions, people's sensibilities; what people thought was plausible; what they thought
was not plausible. What was believable. I could play
the game, I could listen and understand what people
could accept, and what they could not accept. I
respected other people's points of view. I evaluated
what was known and unknown, I knew what was speculationand what wasn't. I'm not a total idiot.
But what I have to say, from my perspective, is the truth.
I learned along the way, the part of the puzzle I
figured out. It's not the whole picture. It strikes
me as funny. It strikes me as ironic. All the arguments out there about bigfoot's nature:
kill, no kill, ape-like/person-like,intelligent/just an animal, flesh and blood/supernatural,real/hoax, misidentified animal/uncataloged animal/perceptual failure/mass halucination/sociological phenomenon/cultural phenomenon/wishful thinking...
well, you know what "they" say; a man convinced
against his will remains of the same opinion.
All of the major raging arguments can be answered with one simple
answer;
BOTH seemingly opposed viewpoints are true.
ALL of the above theories have some truth to them,
after a fashion.
When you can understand how these disparate
viewpoints and raging arguments and hardened
positions and exclusive theories can all be true at the same time, you are on your
way to understanding what I have learned about the bigfeet... really.
I can't tell you how funny I find this.
No doubt I just lost your attention, you might be
saying "it's not possible, it's not plausible,
it's ridiculous, it's silly, it's not credible,
you're not credible, it's not scientific,
it's not helpful, what about Occam's Law of
limited imagination?" etc. etc. I always ask myself,
"Why bother to tell anyone anything about bigfoot?"
Everyone will have to find out for themselves and
see with their own eyes or they will not believe
me. Why? Because they are sane, rational, normal
human beings who have their critical faculties intact.
...nothing wrong with that. Some truths about the
bigfeet are a self-keeping secret. People are just
not ready to accept what I've learned on my
personal journey. Just remember, I'd like to think
I respect truth as much as anybody. I even respect
the fact that we each have our own truths, our
own beliefs, our own sense of meaning.
I have personally experienced the flesh and blood
animal aspect of bigfeet, up close and personal,
I have personally experienced the telepathic
aspect of bigfeet, on more than one occasion.
I have encountered the sense of humour of
intelligent bigfeet, I have communicated with
intelligent bigfeet. I have been made fun of by
the bigfeet. I have walked right up
to a bush with a laughing bigfoot in it, and
found nothing at all there. No tracks, no broken
branches, nothing. I have seen enough with my own eyes
to know that bigfoot is a flesh and blood animal,
AND something else beyond my understanding. Something
that acts like an animal, then acts like a scientist.
Something that can grunt and laugh, something that
can can then reach right into your mind and
communicate with you mind to mind. Something that
can shape-shift, something that looks like an ape,
then looks like almost anything else. Something
that eats raw food like a regular primate, then
walks away without leaving any tracks.
Something that can move in 3D reality in a very
unconventional fashion. When they pass nearby,
it can even affect time. It's funny to me that
the simplest explanation is not the correct
explanation in this particular case. The correct
explanation is rather complicated and even, hah,
(don't laugh too hard) multi-dimensional. Or so
I think today, after along and sometimes ardous
journey. If you have enough direct experience and
good fortune and have contact with these beings,
you will eventually come around to my way of thinking.
Time is on my side.
I have been given many gifts by the bigfeet, the
biggest one was understanding of course. One
particular physical gift I was given in such a
way that I knew who gave it to me.
This particular gift was left behind a locked door,
and done so without unlocking it in a conventional
fashion. I even partially figured out what the gift
meant and symbolized.
I am under no illusion that my personal experiences
will ever rise to the level of "scientific proof".
I am also under no illusion that somehow my
"credibility" will carry the day and make
everyone believe me.
This too I find ironic, I am not irrational, I am
not particularly stupid, yet my personal experiences
fly in the face of almost everything that we "know"
is scientifically possible. Experience and proof
are two very different things, it is easy to
confuse them sometimes. Sometimes you just gotta
be true to yourself, and hope for the best. You
know what I mean?
At times ilke this I console myself with the fact that
"truth" has a way of out-lasting falsehoods,...
eventually, false assumptions wither on the vine,
given enough time, and given enough experience and
good fortune.
Science needs data. When the data is scarce, people
can hold onto extremest views, they can argue their
side of the story, who can prove them wrong? More
data... that's what we need. The ever elusive
concrete proof just around the corner. To me, the
most interesting questions needing more hard data
are these:
1) There is a footprint problem. Sometimes there
are too few footprints, sometimes the footprints are
deeper than they should be,sometimes they are
shallower than they should be. This is related
to a weight problem. The seeming inconsistancies
always get explained away, almost always without
any hard data. People talk about soil compression
and the depth that their boot makes in the same soil,
but no one really has any hard data about what
weight over what surface area compresses to what
depth. Everone assumes that they have to leave
footprints all the time, yet footprints are
seldom found in the proper numbers at
incident locations.
2) There is a location problem. Everyone who studies
enough knows where the hot areas are, we know where
the hot areas were. We all have our pet theories of
where they go, when they go there, where they live,
etc. etc. Sightings near population centers and
within urban areas are always explained away by some
nearby patch of wilderness. Some areas have had
sightings for hundreds of years, yet they are never
there when we go there, or if they are, we don't see
them but they let us know they are around with some
timely wood cracks or screams or footprints or
whatever.
Just how long will you have to be in the woods in
your "hot area" before you find out why you
couldn't find them and get a picture? I can't
even venture a guess. Maybe you won't find out.<
Bigfooters are a very stubborn breed. I really
am trying to give you a gift of truth, a hard
earned small piece of the puzzle... but few,
if any at all, will recognize it as such. Who can
blame you? Judging by the conversation on this board,
you all obviously have your critical faculties
relatively intact. It's ironic to me that to
comprehend what is going on with the bigfeet, one has
to realize that almost everying that one knows is wrong.
That's what makes this puzzle so hard to solve.
all the best folks.
I'll be waiting for you.

Brother Locust

when and where was this posted..

by Mary Green (Login bigfootlady)

and to what media was it posted?
I remember Henry Franzoni and the old IVBC until Moneymaker took it over and booted people off that he didn't like. Henry dropped out of sight after that. That old IVBC was an e-mail forum that Franzoni started and you can correct me if I'm wrong. It was actually one of the first or the first media where you could discuss bigfoot. Franzoni believed paranormally and I think most of the rest believed flesh and blood. Probably why he lost interest in it. I do have a lot of this old mailing list, the IVBC, printed out for reference but I never have actually used any of it.
For those who weren't around back then, most everyone into bigfoot belonged to it. It was where I first posted my sighting reports I had investigated in TN which called a furor to say the least. Back then they didn't believe there were any bigfoot sightings in TN. I think Loren Coleman was the most shocked by my posts!

by (Login ReeseElla)

Until somebody brings in a paranormal body.

I'm a card-carrying no-killer where the real, F&B BF are concerned. I even believe they can communicate at times in a so-called "telepathic" way, which is not paranormal at all, but part of the physical universe and shared by many animals and maybe even a few gifted people. But shape-shifters off a UFO? No way. I respect everyone's convictions, including Henry Franzoni's. But I don't have to agree with that. I can't imagine how he came up with that stuff unless he was drinking or using. No offense to him or anyone else. He's not alone in his beliefs. But great balls of fire!!!! I don't believe it. If that makes me an uneducated, unenlightened redneck, so be it.

It is reported that Mike Morrow died on July 3, 2003 in an accident deep in the woods on

by taffy341 (no login)

Mike had not posted on his new forum since May 2003 and several people had posted inquiring as to if he was ok. Then Mrs. Morrow reported on Mike Morrow's web site that he had died in an auto accident deep in the forest on Jersey shores (I don't know where that is located). She said that his car swerved and hit a ledge on the forest road flipping upside down. His neck was broken in the accident. She didn't say how he was found way back in the woods or how long it took to locate the wreaked car. She also didn't say if anyone was in the car with him. Her report is on Mike's forum.
I tried to see when the last time he posted on other forums and it appears that he had not posted for about two months. However, I am presumeing that he must have communicated with some of the researchers during that time period.
Mike is now gone but he did represent a sensitive, serious and dedicated NO KILL Bigfoot Researcher that spent time with various other like-minded researchers.
I was thinking that it would be thoughtful if some of the researchers that communicated with Mike either in person and/or by email/phone, would post some memories they had when researching and/or discussing research with Mike Morrow. It would be like haveing a "Memorial Memory Thread" for Mike Morrow with the good things that he represented in the field of Bigfoot Research. I know that some of you met with Mike and it would be nice to give him a respectful "Memorial Memory Thread", so that we all can benefit from his shareing with the Bigfoot community while he was here on this earth.
I know from reading his past posts that he had a special love and understanding with animals, such that while deep in the forests, many animals would trust him enough to come close to him to eat the food he offered them. It is obvious from reading his past posts on various forums that he was a man that wanted to share and be accepted as a friend.
I don't know him personally and/or about his personal life but I do recognise from his writings, that he was a sensitive man (artist and poet), and that he felt deeply and did not always understand the reactions of others when he was being so open and forthright. Everyone experiences good and bad days when their feelings are more apt to be accidently & needlessly hurt... we are all suseptible to that human experience. However, that too passes, and now we need to remember and document the things that were shared with Mike Morrow; so that all of the community will learn, remember and benefit from the memories a serious and sincere No Kill Bigfoot Researcher.

Does anyone remember some good stories about talking with or researching with Mike Morrow?

by taffy341 (no login)

From reading the past forum postings, many people seemed to have either visited and researched with Mike Morrow and/or discussed theories of research with Mike Morrow... It would be a benefit to peaceful 'No Kill' research to share some of the Good Memories of experiences with Mike... Remember people are often remembered for how and what they remember of other people; such that, what you remember of others, tends to define who you are as individual ...
