PBS Cook Out

by (no login)

Hi Group,

I wanted to let the group know I enjoyed coming out to the cookout on Sunday, I had a great time in such a lovely park.
I was pretty tired though, after only getting two hours of sleep. I had a Bigfoot meeting in Akron Ohio, followed by a fellowship dinner at denny's. I finally got home about 1, went to bed about 2AM, I got up around 4-4:30AM and was out the door by 5AM. I met Cathy Altman about 7:45AM, Eric was on an errand and close by 9AM we started heading out to the park.
Had a great time with fellowship and great Food!, I just wish I didn't fill up so quick!
I stayed over at the Altman's that night and watched some Bigfoot video's. I was so tired, I barely kept my eyelids open and went to sleep around 9:30PM.

I got home all right. other than almost getting sidewhooped by a Car-Truck howler, that was a scary moment, thought I was done for by reacted quick enopugh for no collision, Thank God. I got home, very tired around noon and let my dog out, he was so happy to see me!, LOL.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their hospitality and friendship and hope to see you all again in September, Lord willing.

Have a nice day,

Phil brocco

Very sad news from PA for those you don't yet know.

by (Login ReeseElla)

A great researcher and dear friend, Mike Morrow, has passed away. The information can be found on his board, NW 54 #247682, and messages of sympathy can be posted there. He was very young and let a young wife and little child. Safe journey, Mike, we'll never forget you, and I'll see you again someday in that big research center in the sky.

I heard the news this morning, and I still can not believe it. It is very sad news indeed!!! I along with several members of the PBS had the chance to meet and research with Mike Morrow, in March 2002. He was a decent young man with a heart full of desire and ambition. Although our meeting was brief, he will leave a lasting impression on me. Rest in Peace Mike!

by taffy341 (no login)

Smokey Crabtree will be the guest speaker on the internet radio station http://www.artistfirst.com this Tues. at 8pm Central time and 9pm Eastern time. You can email question to the DJ host for him to ask Smokey Crabtree. Go to the website and at the top is the DJ's email... it says 'request@..... ' . The email is right at the top of the web page. Last week I sent an email question about the Forest People/Bigfoot writing symbols on the ground and R. Morgan answered with his opinion....

Yes, apparently the Forest People do use very simplistic symbols.. so it has been reported

by taffy341 (no login)

Some symbols I've read about: Wavy 'X' type symbols, wavy line with a branched-off wavy line, odd shaped oval symbol and odd shaped oval symbol with little odd shaped oval symbol on top or side or bottom depending on how you are looking at it. It makes me think of some of the stick markers....
I've not yet personally seen them but various times they have been posted on different forums.
I guess now is a good time to start looking for drawn markers on the ground as well as on trees, branches, etc.
However, I'm not surprised to learn that drawn symbols have been left and also, I'm not surprised that they are so simplistic and easy to over-look. When you think about it, if the Forest People/Bigfoot are instinctively keeping themselves unnoticed, then any symbols they use would be such that only a Forest Person would recognise it as a written symbol communication.
It is just a thought... what would you do if you were an intelligent Forest People/Person that had a 'code of suvival/life' not to do anything to draw attention to your group but did leave drawn symbol communications when it was necessary for other's survival (food/danger/den/birth/family group/etc.)?

I took pics today

by (no login)

I took pics today of a dozen different stick formations. Its hard to see in the pics just how intricate these things are. There is no way gravity alone placed these sticks in these formations. I'll send a cd if anyone is interested. I would like an experenced opinion. Like I said its hard to see in the pics just how these things are put together. They are almost woven together. I dismissed the first one I found last fall as coincidence, but there are just too many in a small area for that to be the case. We have folk lore around here of large hairy women that inhabit a very large tract of state forrest land that is very close by.

Lynn, when you examined the markers....

by taffy341 (no login)

Lynn, when you examined the markers did you notice any feathers, leaves, etc. etc. attached to the formations that normally might not have naturally been attached to the markers??? Did you notice any repetitive type of style in twining of the branches/vines? Did you write any discription to accompany the individual pictures? In looking at the ground around the markers, did you notice any newer leaves/debri intermixed with the older leaves, etc.? Did you notice any missing bark at the base of trees in the area of the markers (it has been suggested that tree knocking will occur in marker areas and that the Forest People/Bigfoot hit the base of the tree to knock)?
Ok, I'll stop the questions... LOL.

Stick forms

by (no login)

I did not notice any feathers or leaves that did not belong. There is absolutely a repetitive style or pattern. I am going to make a map and document each one, so I can tell if there are changes. There are dozens in a small area. I did hear some tree knocking last summer but not from this particular area. Although I have found a couple formations in the area where I thought the knocking was comming from. There was some bark off some trees, but I don't think it was that. I did not notice disturbed leaves at the base of trees. I will look again. I found one this am that is only 75ft from my house.
I don't think they live here. I think they hunt here a few times a year.

Here is a good web site to use to search for info...

by taffy341 (no login)

http://www.n2.net/prey/bigfoot

Look to the left and there is a 'search' engine text box. This web site tries to use the search program for Bigfoot info all over the web. Just put in a word or two. Sometimes you will have to change the words around because it searches for the first word and then the second word in all the documents (global search). I haven't tried a search on 'hairy women' so I don't know what it will have as a result of the search.
Either way it is a great resourse finder.

The wild woman of the Navidad, a Texas legend.

by (Login ReeseElla)

Apparently in the nineteenth century, in the early days of Texas, there were numerous sightings of a "wild woman" whose description matches a BF! She lived around the Navidad River and was tall, furry and large, and I think her head hair was a bit longer than the rest of it. It's a famous Texas "legend". I forget the exact dates and details, but but whatcha wanna bet she was a distant cousin of Patty? )

This Saturday, July 26, I will be participating in a 50km ultramarathon trail run five miles East of New Market, VA. This is between Harrisonburg, VA, and Front Royal, VA, in the George Washington National Forest, bordering the Shenandoah National Park. I plan to stay at the camp grounds after the race, and perhaps do some low-keyed research on Sunday. I would deeply appreciate you computer folks doing some quick research and letting me know of any recent and/or past sightings in this area. By the way, I promise I'll finish the 50km, and I promise I won't finish last!

Mark....
are you allowed to wear a water pack on your back in a marathon...?
The type we wear when biking has a tube that comes over the shoulder that you can sip water or Gatorade from while peddling. Have you ever seen one? It is great, I also use it when out rockhounding. It also has room for a small backpack pouch, etc. Actually, it reaches down near the lower part of the back and gives backsupport like a backbrace.. you can walk for ages stooping and bending without having the typical lower backache that hours of walking can give you. It is designed to be in the wearer's center of gravity so you don't really notice the extra weight. If you haven't seen one, go to a bike shop and they generally have them.

Mark, here is a Va. State sighting

by taffy341 (no login)

Mark go to this website and in the search box on the left column, type in the area of Virgina and there are more reports... this is a great website for locating all different types of information on Bigfoot, sightings, American Indian Culture stories, etc., etc.
http://www.n2.net/prey/bigfoot/
State Report:
Shenandoah Mountains, Virginia
Hawksbill Mountain, 2 October 1998
While on a hike down a mountain trail in Shenandoah Mountains off Skyline Drive in Virginia, I was following a small brook that according to the park ranger would lead me to a waterfall at the bottom end. There I would make camp for the night. About 1:00 am I heard this noise that scared the hell out of me. Large rocks where being thrown from what seemed to be 200-300 feet away up the trail. My only exit strategy was to go through the same path and that wasn't going to happen. Not at night and not on the same turf as whatever was making that noise. I heard heavy footprints that came to what I would say 100 feet from my location when I fired off a round from a 357 magnum aimed into the ground. What ever it was took off. I still didn't go back into the tent that night .I spent the night leaned up against a tree, covered up with a blanket with no fire.

The next morning I quickly made my get-away, I was so scared I left my tent with only my food and water. At one point I believe I got a good look at my intruder the night before. Understand there was a good 4-hour hike to the car at this point. Two ridge peaks surrounded my exit path just as they did at my venture down the hill. Halfway up the mountain I heard the same noises I heard hours earlier. To my left lies the rising sun coming over a ridge peak that was maybe 80 feet away.

Upon looking up I caught a clear view of halve a body standing over the edge of the peak with the morning sun behind it. It was at that point I heard the scream that has haunted me until this day. It sounded like a baby screaming then turned into the deepest full winded howl I've ever heard. Right now, just talking about it stands the hair up on my neck. I emptied every round of the gun in the general direction of whatever it was and then it disappeared. I ran as fast as I could, loading my gun at a full sprint up hill cattycorner to the intruder. When I reached my car I almost started crying. I really got the hell scared out of me. I told the ranger at the gate where I-64 runs into the Blue Ridge Parkway and he insisted me wait for a Ranger to get there and take over for him and show him the site to where it all took place.

I did stay and let him follow me to the trail I had been on. When we did get he had this look on his face and said this part of the skyline was supposed to be closed down for the coming snow but the ranger who gave me a tip on a cool campsite sure didn't say anything. I think at this point he was basically saying that they were going to close it down to investigate. But on the other hand use the up coming bad weather for an excuse.

Additional correspondence:

Thank you for replying to my letter. Let me clear up some information on my report. I will try to add a map on my attachments to your mail. It was October 02, 1998. No snow on ground and not very cold for the month of October in Shenandoah, Virginia. The Blue Ridge Parkway, I-64 runs into Skyline Drive. I came from Norfolk if you want to trace my steps to the mountains. When I-64 met the Skyline Drive I took a right onto Skyline Drive in Shenandoah, followed it to a point between Red Gate Road and a mountain named Hawksbill.

These two areas are about 5 miles apart. I parked the car at the recommended area by the park ranger. Then hiked down to the area, about 2.3 miles into the forest when the first incident occurred. It was after that, that the hike was finished down the mountain. That night there was a disturbing incident. It was on the way back up the trail (which took several hours to do because of the steep incline and rugged terrain) that the second encounter happened. And yes I am very sure I hit the creature. He was very close, too close, at a 40-degree angle from my position. I have been a marksman for sometime. I have been in televised sharp-shooter finals and have served as range-master on two separate occasions my house is full of sharp-shooting trophies, so I can honestly say that there is a very good chance I hit him. I may have had the crap scared out of me but my hand never shakes when I hold a weapon. I did run and reload at the same time. I ran like a bat out of hell.

But due to the size of what I believe was a bigfoot there was no way I would have gone up to check the kill, unless I had at least a Remington .700 mag on my shoulder. It was the first time in my life I knew a round from a .357 would not take down the creature that I was shooting at.

Please respond back perhaps we can talk on landline next time. (757) 399 -xxxx. I will not be home until 7:00 pm Eastern, Tuesday through Friday. I'm off Saturday, Sunday and Mondays.

Robert Williams, tcwilliamsr@xxxx.com

First, let me assure you, as an experienced marathon and ultramarathon runner, and as a race director who has organized a 50km and 40-miler twice-yearly for five years here in Virginia Beach, I'm quite familiar with the "Camelpaks" you mentioned. I prefer to carry a pair of bottles, that I refill at the aid-stations. Next, I deeply appreciate the sighting you posted. The gentleman obviously was a military man stationed here in Norfolk, and his encouter occured just South of where I will be encamped this weekend. Unlike our military brother I will be unarmed, except for my camera, my lunatic Rottweiler/Chow mix-dog, and a few very sharp "gardening tools!"

Mark, that website should have other siteings nearer to your campsite.....

by taffy341 (no login)

Mark, it was the first area sighting I came across on that website's search engine... I'm sure there are other reported sightings nearer to your campsite (of course the Forest People/Bigfoot do travel in through out large territorys).
As to the guns, it just happened to be the first report I came across..and since the search was strictly for that area of Va., I thought it would at least give you some idea.. Many websites have sightings by state.. Jeff Teagle's website gives state sightings as well as the website I gave you in the other post.
I personally am a NO KILL believer unless a life is at stake. And that does not mean a shot-out-of-fear but an actual threat of loosing a life because of a vicious life threatening attack by a Bigfoot.
I believe in freedom of thought, so I do not mention this for discussion, only to state my belief.
I also believe that all researchers can learn from each other's work and the issue of No Kill or Pro Kill need not create a bar to shareing knowledge on our Forest People/Bigfoot.
Logically, the two opposing theories would not work as research partners in field research because of the total different frame of mind and thought process when out researching (threat vs. non-threat). We all know that animals sense the human's mental state of mind and that is why animals will approach some humans and stay distant from other humans.
You mentioned gardening tools when out camping... I've read that the Forest People/Bigfoot also dig up certain roots for food as well as jab sticks into the ground to make the worms rise to the top... I think one of the below posts speak to the 'worm fishing' for food. Will you be camping away from the main camping areas (deeper into the woods)?
I read on another forum somewhere that Forest People like slow soothing harmonica music and become curious with it's melodic soothing sound... they become agitated by peppy sounds similar to "Rain drops are falling on my head". However, the slow soothing sounds are non-agressive and they do not seem to be upset by them... lol... or their ear drums aren't irratated... LOL.
Just a thought, who knows, the soothing sound of the harmonica may bring a positive gentle call from them.. better than an agressive screech... LOL.
Good luck on your marathon and Bigfoot research.

Thats one thing we dont need in this field. In order to solve the mystery, we ALL must work together. Some people unfortunately never will, as they have their own personal vendetta's but the good cooperative researchers will be the ones to get the job done. Not to toot our own horn, but the PBS objective from day one is to solve the mystery. We work with whomever will work with us, We have always had the door open and we are all open minded. Wether we disagree or not with the persons theory, thats one thing I think that makes us unique, we allow everyone in our group to think what they want, believe what they want and to have their own opinion. Doesnt mean it has to be agreed upon, but that person will not be treated differently for having it. I wish you luck on your board Rick and I hope you have success with your findings.

Eric

Good to hear it Rick.

It's a hard field to stick with when there are those who cause trouble with others all the time.
I am glad the new board is clean and that is good. WE ALL have our moments and I have had my share. I am through with many and am going my own way.

Hiya, Rick!

by (no login)

Rick, just wanted to let you know that I have never held hard feelings against anyone.

I wish you and your family well and I only wish the very best for anyone I have ever come into contact with and even those I haven't!

Eric is right. Until we all work together nothing will be worth doing, Rick. I know you are a good guy, Rick. And that's what counts! Always remember the "Golden Rule" as I have learned to do myself.

You take care and thanks to Eric for allowing us to speak freely without fear of condemnation! Long Live the PBS!

Sincerely yours,

Jerri Asmussen

You and Bill are like family to the PBS! You are both welcome to post here ANYTIME! I put an open invite out to anyone to post here any time as long as it is positive, professional and not slanderous, rude or ignorant to any other person, whether you agree or disagree with the work they do. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, we all can say, I disagree with whomever, but because you disagree with what I say, or whomever is no reason to say nasty things about that person and that is one thing that will NEVER be tolerated here. Okay, im down off my soapbox. But Anyways, Jerri, Bill, and Rick, you are ALL Welcome here to post, visit, or just say hi as your passing on by. We welcome you all!

How Refreshing... new beginnings learning from the mistakes of the past with compassion...

by taffy341 (no login)

Compassion and understanding is one of the higher instincts belonging to humans and animals... yes, animals have often reversed their behaviour to show compassion when least expected...
A new day is dawning and perhaps now the best of everyone will 'think tank' together while granting the right to 'freedom of opinion'. There is always power in numbers and as everyone works together helping each other, accepting each other, while striving for understanding and compassion as it keeps all concerned a 'winning group of research teams'.
I know that God is smiling at everyone!

OSBI hopes for IDs today on bodies found at campground

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation hopes to have the identities and cause of death today on two bodies found in an eastern Oklahoma campground.

O-S-B-I spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the bodies of a man and woman were found Friday by a hiker in the Winding Stair campground in LeFlore County. The campground is at Winding Stair Mountains in the Ouachita National Forest.

Brown says the bodies are at the state Medical Examiner's office in Tulsa to determine the cause of death and positive identification. She says investigators are not releasing information about the condition of the bodies.

Brown says the two apparently registered for the campsite last Tuesday and a tent and car were found at the site.
