Frustrated/Confused

This is a new venture for me, I hope someone can help. I've been reading about Spirited children and I think my 19 month old son IS. I try to talk to family and friends about issues that come up, but they just keep telling me he's normal. I know he's normal, but I think he's "more" normal than some others. I hear a lot of people talk about their older kids having these tendancies, is it possible to tell if your young toddler is "spirited"? I love my son, but I find myself telling others to hope they don't have a child like mine and I almost dread having another child for fear it may be as challenging.

He has never slept well, ate well, dealt with change well, has always been very active, tenacious, motivated. He walked before he was 8 months old, he still doesn't sleep through the night, and has a limited selection on his menu of choice. I feel like I need to have indepth conversations ten minutes before any activity- change a diaper, eat a meal, go to the store. I've tried different parent/child classes but nothing holds his interest very long. I think he's very intelligent and gets bored easily, once he's master a task he's done with it.

Can anyone give me advice on other resources or activities that could help us?

Thanks
