Greetings from across the miles. I write to you from Washington State, USA, anyway, what I wanted to say is "Why do people freak out so much in the USA over women with bald and shaved heads? I've shaved my head about 5 times now, and as I write this my head is very bald, but I just don't understand why so many people are so closed minted and shutter at the thought of a woman without hair. My own father said I was "Going to hell, for having cut off my hair." Does anyone out there have any insight that they'll share with me about why people are so ignorant? And does anyone have any ideas on how I can deal with it?

Some people have a negative reaction to bald women because it's not how women are "supposed" to look. I think it's great that you don't follow the "rule" that women have to have long hair. Although there are a lot of people who do freak out, there are some people who find short hair (and no hair) extremely attractive. I hope your father will at least understand your point someday and I certainly don't think you're going to hell; it's only a little hair.
