Network54 Administrators:

After talking with Nat (Owner ofhttp://www.network54.com/Forum/143108), I want to ask for your assistance with the following: The owner of the following forum appears to be MIA: http://www.network54.com/Forum/182405. I would like to take over ownership of the forum. It is a fine place and it would be terrible if trolls and the general forum continues to run unchecked.

Per information "Ripper" provided on the Admin Forum, I will follow the procedure. Step #1, announce my intentions via a forum post.

Will you please verify if the owner has logged in within past 6 months or not. In addition, do I need "Premier Membership" to take over ownership of an MIA owner?

Thank you for considering my request.

Regards,

Bob (in USA)

Bob,

Sorry, it looks like that forum has logged in as recently as today.

Have you any ideas or suggestions for a forum whose owner is incognito and hasn't been "present" to manage the board? I want to work within the rules; however, it makes little sense that I posted a thread regarding change of ownership and the owner simply logs in and offers no response to the call.

As I told Mr. Ripper, the NSF 182405 has neither seen nor heard from its owner for many months.

Is the only choice to let the forum be overrun by trolls and degrade to a point that members of some many years are left in a state of zero owner involvement?

Thank you for your investigation.

Sincerely,
Bob (in USA)

You might want to consider starting a new forum with the same theme as the abandoned one. Then, post a message on the abandoned forum inviting people to move to the new forum.

You might call it:

*** *** Forum 2.

Please let me know if you need help setting up the new forum.

Cheers,Bob

Thank you for taking time to share encouragement and suggestions. I sincerely appreciate your alternative and offering to help set up a new forum.

You and Sir Ripper have been quite positive about offering ideas and solutions. I will ponder what you shared and seriously consider making the move.

I posted an open, professional request on the forum for the owner to respond. If I do not hear from the owner in a reasonable period of time, I will take you up on the offer to set up a new forum. I believe it can established positively and with the utmost sensitivity to NSF's members' feelings.

You have been most gracious in looking over my request and trying to help me solve the equation.

Cheers to you as well, BobKy!

BobKy,

I am on holiday and the "Nude Sleepers Forum"http://www.network54.com/Forum/182405 is suffering from trolls and other unhealthy posters running off legitimate members with logins. Basically, the forum and board is out of control. I wasn't sure the best way to reach you, so I sent both an email and I am posting here.

Bottom line, I am taking you up on your offer from November.

I would like you assistance to set up a new forum, we'll call it Nude Sleepers Forum 2 for now.

Thank you for both you and your teams hard work!

Regards,
Bob (in USA)

It's real easy to set up a forum. First thing I would do is become a Premier member. If you already are, then just go and create a forum. Create a few groups and give them each different permissions for that forum. Just remember, you cannot give groups lower permissions than regular users.

A good way to set it up is like this:

Anyone: no access
Network54 logins: Read only
Normal group: post or post moderated
Moderators: approve/edit/delete

What this will do is make the forum invisible to the internet, except for Network54 users who can only post if they are in your normal group (you'll have to come up with a name for each group). If you make it post moderated, their posts will only show up on the forum after a moderator, or you, approve them. Moderators will have the ability to approve postts, as well as edit and/or delete them, as will you as forum owner. Only you will have the ability to allow new members, ban people, etc... NEVER give out your login info to ANYONE for ANY reason.

Good luck and be sure to ask for any help you may need.
