The Hunter division was originally invisioned as a place where guys could their hunting rigs and have fun shooting the sport with other airgunners.
It was a vehicle to grow the sport and encourage participation. The hope was that some new airgunners might decide they like the game and move up into the the other divisions. It wasn't supposed to evolve into a class for people to spend thousands of dollars on equipment in order to win.
I think that some new airgunners giving the hunter class a try will be put off by the high dollar rifles and scopes they see being used in a "Hunter" division that probably would never be used in a real world hunting situation. This may discourage their continuing the sport and that defeats the original purpose of the Hunter division.
If airgunners want to invest into better rifles and scopes to compete in this sport I think that is great, but perhaps they should consider moving into the PCP or Piston division and compete there.
