Response to I think it's better to say.......

your eyes can compensate. you know how the instructions tell you to focus the cross hairs using the occular (eyepiece) on a scope? they tell you to look away at infinity, then quick look into the scope and see if the hairs appear sharp without waiting for your eyes to correct the focus?

therein might lie the key to this

maybe you can use the same process (look away, then look in at your focus without allowing a lot of time for the eye to correct).

it's something I'M gonna try next, since my ranging is 'less than perfect' too.
