Or at least half of one, beacuse "they'd cost less than a zoom, and have improved optical performance." is what I was thinking. Less is more and all. The sum is more than the parts kind of thing. Big light gathering objective, fewer parts, though a side wheel is going to screw that up I suppose its a trade off for ergonomics, stronger tube, put the money from the missing zoom cluster into better glass......aren't the better sniper scopes fixed power, no side wheel?
