WWCCA July 15, 2012 Field Target Match Report
WWCCA held our monthly sixty shot field target event instead of the Great Lakes 100 due to a low registration count. We had hot and humid weather on Saturday and Sunday was even hotter and more humid with the temperature in the lower nineties.
Richard Saunders worked on painting the field targets while Joe and I cut and cleared the lanes of our field target range. Karen along with Douglas Piccard and Tom Kummer setup the practice range and their help was greatly appreciated. Douglas and Tom were visiting WWCCA for the first time and were curious to see what we are all about. Richard was spent from painting in the heat so the rest of us went out to the walk through range to setup and measure the course. The Troyer rating for our thirty target sixty shot setup was at 32.1. We were in the clubhouse for a quick lunch by 1:30 PM which was facilitated with the extra workers that were such a great help to us. Three and a half hours sure beats the five hours or more it takes the three of us to setup.
Fifteen shooters decided to brave the heat and humidity and most shooters seemed to be affected by the heat in some way. Douglas and Tom were there also to see some field target shooting and picked up the practice range for us after we went to shoot the field target course. Eric Sanders posted the top score in PCP with a 57, Ted Bey posted the top Hunter score with a 53 which beat his goal of a 50 for this season. Ted also tied for the third top score with Jim Stanis, quite an accomplishment in my book. Jeff Paddock took WFTF with a total of 55 and Fritz Sanders was the top Piston shooter with a 39. Ketan Palicha posted a 16 for his first try at field target shooting and will definitely improve with a scope of a higher magnification. I guess the top shooters werent bothered too much by the heat but most felt the course was harder that last months, although the Troyer rating was higher at last months match.

All the shooters helped finished breaking down the course and we were in the clubhouse by 1:45. There we announced the match results in air-conditioned comfort as we enjoyed our lunch. Our next field target match is scheduled for August 12th and we hope to have another good turnout for the event.
