The PRIMARY reason Field Target, and other airgun sports caught on, is the airgun industry, from manufacturers, distributors, and mostly the local DEALERS promoted the game. they were behind club startups, and created and fanned the flames of brand loyalty and model rivalry that sparks the interest and involvement of the players.

When dealers slowed up on promoting, as a result of fewer dealers, apathy, and lack of knowledge, the game began to stagnate. when the game began to stagnate, the availability of magazines with articles ABOUT the sport faded out for lack or support and coverage.

Yes, clubs and players do the most nowadays to help keep new people coming in, but the PRIMARY movers and shakers, and still potentially the most effective, were and likely still are the industry elements.

Its not about classes, or pricepoints.
