Response to The sport needs a "break barrel" class.
is that those shooters still have to shoot the same course as the open class shooters. I don't think we are going to attract a lot of break barrel shooters to the sport if they end up shooting 10-20% each match. Field Target is a sport that requires skill and accuracy. If your description of accuracy is being able to hit a coke can at 15 yards, you probably won't be happy in field target. We are not going to win over all air rile shooters. I believe our goal should be to show the interested parties the possibilities that exist with today's air rifles, most don't even know what a PCP is, and hope that some will see the fun that can be had and join us.
The best idea I have seen yet is what Wayne Burns did in Oregon, he set up a course shared by both Pistol and break barrel shooters. Now all we need is a few people to step up as match directors, invest the time and money into acquiring the targets and shooting venue and running the matches. Any takers?
